Longdrive Australia Remax Longdrive Championship

24/07/2011

Bendigo Suzuki set a fantastic back drop for Round 7 of the RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship Australia and what an event we saw. James and his team at the Neangar Park Golf Club put together a superb event.

Andrew Brennen continued his tornado domination at Neangar Park as he claimed his 5th win in a row. Whilst his competitors were hot on his heels, it was Brennen that showed his skills in the Top 3 play off. Brennen is the first RWLCA competitor to accomplish this. Mark Sanford claimed the 4 point bonus for the longest senior drive of the day, a tremendous effort even with a shoulder injury.

Open Men’s division also saw some new competitors making their presence felt, Round 1 Amateur record holder Rob Cowdroy edged closer to his first Open win and Anthony Donovan showed that practice pays off, but it was Brendan Moylan who found the measurement on the Neangar grid. Moylan won the 2010 RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship Final and is looking like he will hard to beat, again this year.

Senior 3rd place getter Dave Sawtell smashed the RWLCA wheelchair record, he is setting the bar high for anyone who would like to challenge him

Super Senior saw a local battle as Mark Flint and Ken Pell went head to head. Flint found the extra 3.9 metres that he needed to claim his glory over Pell with a winning measurement of 250m.

Alan Clarke put on a fantastic show in the legends division. Clarke won with a measurement of 242.3m. Paul Eltringham had a fantastic drive of 226.4m.
All Super Senior and Legends competitors are local Victorians.
